Common LearnPress problems we fix
LearnPress is free to start with, which makes it popular. As academies grow, the add-ons, themes and customizations around it are where things go wrong.
We update LearnPress and its add-ons on staging, test enrolment, quizzes and checkout, then patch production, and set up alerts for future advisories.
Many education themes ship their own LearnPress templates. We bring overrides up to date so you can update both safely.
We isolate each add-on on staging, fix or replace the conflicting one and document the final set.
Query profiling, object caching and leaner templates for the pages students use most.
A clean setup with LearnPress payments or WooCommerce, with order status and enrolment kept in sync.
An honest comparison with LearnDash, Tutor LMS or Moodle and, if it makes sense, a migration plan that keeps your students and courses.

Code-level expertise
LearnPress provides actions and filters for most of the student journey. Using them, instead of editing LearnPress or your theme's copy of its templates, is what lets you apply security updates the day they are released.
This example tags a new student in your email platform when they enrol, using the learnpress/user/course-enrolled action.
<?php
/**
* Plugin Name: Academy CRM for LearnPress
* Tags new students in the email platform when they enrol.
*/
defined( 'ABSPATH' ) || exit;
add_action( 'learnpress/user/course-enrolled', function ( $order_id, $course_id, $user_id ) {
// Defer the API call so enrolment stays instant.
wp_schedule_single_event( time(), 'academy_tag_student', [ (int) $user_id, (int) $course_id ] );
}, 10, 3 );
add_action( 'academy_tag_student', function ( $user_id, $course_id ) {
$user = get_userdata( $user_id );
if ( ! $user ) {
return;
}
$response = wp_remote_post( ACADEMY_ESP_URL, [
'timeout' => 10,
'headers' => [
'Authorization' => 'Bearer ' . ACADEMY_ESP_KEY,
'Content-Type' => 'application/json',
],
'body' => wp_json_encode( [
'email' => $user->user_email,
'tags' => [ 'student', 'course-' . $course_id ],
] ),
] );
if ( is_wp_error( $response ) ) {
error_log( 'Academy CRM: ' . $response->get_error_message() );
}
}, 10, 2 );

Patchstack's vulnerability database lists 80 patched LearnPress vulnerabilities over the plugin's lifetime. Several were disclosed in September 2026 alone, including unauthenticated disclosure of quiz answers, question banks and enrolment data in 4.4.x versions, and an insecure direct object reference affecting versions up to 4.4.8. All of them were fixed in later releases, which is exactly why staying current matters.
The difficulty is that many LearnPress sites cannot update quickly: an education theme ships its own template overrides, an add-on is no longer maintained, or someone edited plugin files. Our approach:
Our LMS security checklist covers the controls around the plugin itself.
If your theme overrides LearnPress templates, a specialist will ask about it straight away, because that is what blocks updates.
Listen for LearnPress actions and filters and a separate add-on. Editing LearnPress files makes every future update a risk.
You want staged updates, a test checklist for your key flows and a rollback plan, not updates on the live site.
A good developer will tell you if LearnPress is still the right choice for where your academy is going. See our WordPress LMS plugin comparison and our WordPress LMS developers page.
Fixes and updates are billed hourly; custom add-ons, payment setups and migrations are usually fixed-price after we have seen the site. You get a written estimate after the free technical call.
If you are not on the latest LearnPress release, possibly. We check your LearnPress and add-on versions against public advisories, update them on staging, test your key flows and then patch production.
Yes. We update or remove the theme's outdated LearnPress template overrides, test them against the current version, and leave you with a setup you can update normally.
Yes. New course rules, enrolment logic, reports and integrations, built as a separate plugin on LearnPress hooks with documentation.
Yes. Course lists, quizzes and profile pages are the usual bottlenecks. We profile the queries, add object caching and slim down templates, then measure again.
Sometimes. If you need advanced Groups, B2B reporting or multi-instructor marketplaces, LearnDash, Tutor LMS or Moodle may suit you better. We will compare honestly and, if you decide to move, migrate courses and students.
Yes: monthly updates on staging, security monitoring, backups and development time for small changes. See LMS maintenance and support.
