Disclosure: LMS Advisor is built by the All-in-One LMS team. We score it with the same criteria as every other product on this page.

The best LMS for associations tracks continuing education credits the way your accreditors expect, issues and renews certificates without manual work, and talks to your association management system (AMS) so member records, purchases and credits stay in one place. On our published rubric, Path LMS from Momentive Software scores highest (88/100), with the deepest documented CE credit tools and the most detailed list of AMS connectors. Cadmium Elevate is a strong second (79/100), especially if you run conferences and webinars.

Our own product, LMS Advisor, ranks fifth of five (58/100). It is strong on expiring certificates, verification and renewals, but it does not keep a CE credit ledger, names no AMS connector and has no built-in checkout. We explain where it can still fit in the "How to choose" section.

This guide is for education directors at small and mid-sized associations. Most pages that rank for "association LMS" are written by one vendor. Ours adds a neutral AMS integration comparison, built from each vendor's own integration pages and checked on 30 October 2026.

How we evaluated association LMS platforms

We started from what accreditors ask CE providers to keep. ACCME expects an accredited provider to be able to record and, when the physician authorises it, verify participation for six years from the date of the activity. NASBA requires CPE sponsors to keep documentation for each program for at least five years, including participation and credits earned by each participant. IACET's standard, as IACET summarises it, asks providers to keep training records and make them available to learners for at least seven years. Whatever your accreditor, the LMS has to hold credits, attendance and certificates for years and produce them on request.

Members then expect to buy a course at the member price, sign in with their AMS account and see every credit they have earned on one transcript. So the rubric weights credit tracking first, then certification and AMS integration, then commerce, live events and price.

We read product pages, help centers, integration lists and pricing pages for each vendor. This is a documentation review, not a hands-on test, and no vendor paid to be included. Where a vendor does not document a capability, we score it 1 (not documented), so a low score often means "ask in the demo". Each platform is scored from 1 to 5 per criterion; the weighted score is the weight multiplied by the score and divided by 5, so the maximum is 100.

None of the five vendors publishes a price as of October 2026. Ask for written quotes at the same member count and the same modules, because certification, badges and some integrations are priced separately.

1. Path LMS (Momentive Software): 88/100

Path LMS is the platform Blue Sky eLearn built; Momentive Software acquired Blue Sky in February 2025, and Momentive's CrowdWisdom product is now part of Path LMS. It is built for associations, and it shows in the credit tools. Momentive documents unlimited custom credit types with completion rules, self-attestation for external learning, partial credit and certificate transcripts. It connects to ACCME's Program and Activity Reporting System (PARS), and its integration list includes CE Broker activity writebacks, CPE Monitor and ABA MCLE credit sync.

Its integration list is also the only one in this review that says, AMS by AMS, whether the connection is sign-on only or also writes activity back. Our AMS section below uses that detail.

  • Pros: the deepest documented CE credit tracking; renewal management with reminders and CEU tracking; automatic badges with Credly and BadgeCert; member and non-member pricing, bundles and promotional codes; live events through Zoom, GoToWebinar, GoToMeeting or Adobe Connect with attendance verification.
  • Cons: the full certification lifecycle sits in a separate Certification Management product; Momentive's own Nimble AMS is listed as SSO only, with no writeback; SCORM and xAPI are named without versions; mobile access is described as mobile-friendly, not a native app.
  • Pricing note: quote only as of October 2026 (Path LMS).

2. Cadmium Elevate: 79/100

Cadmium Elevate suits associations where education grows out of meetings. It runs native webinars and virtual conferences that become on-demand content, and it connects to Cadmium's Eventscribe for in-person events. Its help center shows that you can add as many credit types to a product as you need, and that the credit type appears on the certificate and the transcript.

  • Pros: several credit types per product; renewable and progressive designations with automated reminders; a learner dashboard of earned, in-progress and expired certifications; pricing by member status, role or chapter, with subscriptions, bundles and discounts through Stripe and PayPal; 28 AMSs listed on its integrations page.
  • Cons: the certification module sits under add-ons and is priced through your account manager; digital badges require a separate BadgeCert account; the integrations page says availability may vary by product, module or configuration, and it does not say which AMSs write credits back; named accreditor reporting is not documented.
  • Pricing note: quote only as of October 2026. The Elevate page quotes a general market range for association LMSs, not its own price (Cadmium Elevate).

3. Forj LMS: 66/100

Forj LMS (Forj Learn) comes from the 2023 merger of Forj and Web Courseworks. Forj documents CE credits, hours and requirements, credit eligibility with conditional award logic, and digital transcripts that members keep throughout their careers. Pricing can differ for members, non-members and partners, with conditional pricing by membership tier and Stripe built in.

  • Pros: association-first design; conditional credit logic; tiered member pricing; live and on-demand learning including virtual event recordings; quoted without user limits.
  • Cons: public documentation is thin: AMS partners appear as logos (including iMIS, Fonteva, Impexium, MemberClicks, Novi, Wicket and Salesforce) with a general statement that completions and credits can be written back; certificate expiry and recertification are not documented; SCORM is mentioned without versions and xAPI is not.
  • Pricing note: quote only as of October 2026 (Forj LMS).

4. Docebo: 66/100

Docebo is a general enterprise LMS with a member training solution. It fits a large association that also trains staff, chapters or partners on one platform. Certifications carry a validity period and expiry date, and members renew by retaking content or by submitting external training, which an admin can approve so the CEUs are recorded.

  • Pros: mature certification and recertification; external training approval; Zoom Meeting and Zoom Webinar attendance tracking, including counting recording views; coupons and Adyen, PayPal or Stripe payments; SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 and xAPI.
  • Cons: each course has a single numeric "Credits (CEUs)" field rather than several credit types; content is sold in one currency, and different prices for different audiences require duplicating content; its member training page names iMIS, Association Anywhere, Salesforce and Microsoft Dynamics, but writeback is not documented and the Salesforce integration is listed at additional cost.
  • Pricing note: quote only, on Elevate and Enterprise plans priced by active users, as of October 2026 (Docebo pricing).

5. LMS Advisor: 58/100

LMS Advisor, our self-hosted LMS, scores well on the certificate side of member education and poorly on the association plumbing. Certificates issue on completion or exam pass with the member's name, hours, completion date and a verification link, and they can carry an expiry shown as valid, expiring soon or expired on a public verification page. An automation emails members before a certificate lapses. Completion rules, minimum lesson time, daily time logs and a mandatory end-of-course evaluation support CE evidence, and completions, certificates and evaluation responses export for accreditor reports.

Its member training page is direct about the gaps: it does not keep a separate credit ledger, does not submit records to accrediting bodies, and has no checkout, coupons, subscription billing or membership management. Selling runs through a WooCommerce connector, where member pricing is handled by the store.

  • Pros: verifiable, expiring certificates with renewal reminders; standalone exams with native proctoring for certification bodies; live sessions with QR check-in and Zoom or Google Meet scheduling; SAML from your member portal; SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004, xAPI and cmi5; cloud or self-hosted.
  • Cons: no CE credit ledger or accreditor submission; no named AMS connector; not a course-selling storefront; no SOC 2 or ISO 27001 attestation.
  • Mobile: lmsadvisor.com lists native iOS and Android apps and a separate installable web app (PWA); confirm which one your members will use.
  • Pricing note: quote-based for cloud or self-hosted deployments, with a free trial. You can see how LMS Advisor handles this (disclosed: our product).

AMS integration compared: which LMS connects to your AMS

Ask two questions about any AMS connector: does it only let members sign in with their AMS account (SSO), and does it write completions and credits back to the member record? Only Path LMS answers both, AMS by AMS, on its public list. For the others, "listed" means the vendor names that AMS as an integration or partner; it does not tell you what data flows.

Sources: each vendor's own integration or solution page, checked 30 October 2026. "Not listed" does not mean it cannot be done: most of these platforms offer SAML single sign-on and an API, so a custom integration is often possible at extra cost. For the data you will want to sync, see our guide to LMS integrations with HRIS, CRM and payments.

How to choose the best LMS for your association

  • Accredited CE is your core product: shortlist Path LMS and Cadmium Elevate, and ask each to show a member transcript with two credit types, an external credit and the export your accreditor needs. Our list of the best LMS for continuing education goes deeper on CE and CPD tracking.
  • Your AMS decides: start from the table above, then ask the vendor for a reference customer on the same AMS and a written description of which fields sync, in which direction and how often.
  • Education happens at events: Cadmium Elevate is built around turning sessions into on-demand courses with credits attached.
  • You also train staff or partners: Docebo covers member, staff and partner audiences on one platform, at the cost of a simpler credit model.
  • You run a certification body rather than a CE catalog: if what matters is a proctored exam, a public verification page and a renewal cycle, and your AMS or WooCommerce store already handles payments, LMS Advisor fits that narrower job and can be self-hosted. It is the wrong choice if you need a credit ledger.

For the wider picture of how requirements change by sector, see LMS requirements by industry. Whatever you choose, test the AMS sync with real member records before signing, because a sign-on-only connector often means staff re-keying credits later.

Frequently asked questions

What is an association LMS?

An LMS built for member education. Beyond courses, it tracks continuing education credits, issues and renews certificates, sells courses at member and non-member prices, and connects to the association management system so members sign in once and their credits land on their member record.

Which LMS integrates with iMIS?

As of October 2026, Path LMS lists iMIS with single sign-on and activity writeback, Cadmium Elevate and Forj LMS list iMIS as an integration or partner, and Docebo names iMIS on its member training page. Ask each vendor which fields sync and in which direction.

How long should CE records be kept?

It depends on the accreditor. ACCME expects providers to be able to verify participation for six years, NASBA requires CPE sponsors to keep program documentation for at least five years, and IACET asks for seven years of learner records. Check your own accreditor's current rules.

Can a general corporate LMS work for an association?

It can if your CE needs are simple. Corporate platforms usually have strong certification features but a single credit field per course and weaker member pricing and AMS connectors, which is why association-specific platforms score higher on our rubric.
